History of The Tournament
In 1933 a group of food products suppliers and grocery retailers convened to assemble a golf tournament that would allow retailer staff and food vendors the chance to network and enjoy a great day of golf. This idea grew to include any supplier that handled food and related products to food. Thus, the Food and Allied Industries title.
The tournament has grown to become an annual tradition, a "must attend" event in Ontario and the grocery industry. It became so successful to be able to designate excess funds to be donated to The Grocery Foundation to support children's charities and various Ontario food banks. We have to date raised over $250,000 for these important initiatives. We have nearly 300 golfers on two golf courses where both retailers and suppliers enjoy a day of networking and a wide range of golf skills.
2026 marks the 90th year of this tradition - a tradition that continues to allow for camaraderie and fun in this great industry.
